A well-balanced look is usually achieved by choosing a light that is approximately half to two-thirds the width of the frame. Because the arms feature an adjustable extension from 7.5 to 10.5 inches, this light is particularly versatile; you can extend it further out to clear deep-profile canvases or ornate frames, ensuring the light reaches the entire surface of the art without casting a shadow from the top of the frame.

The manufacturer recommends using an E26 Medium Base T10-5.5 bulb. Because the shade is a slender, linear cylinder with a 2-inch diameter, a standard round bulb will not fit inside the housing. The T10-5.5 bulb features a slim, "test tube" shape that slides perfectly into the shade, allowing the two light sources to distribute a continuous glow across the 17-inch wide shade.
